1974 Harley-Davidson Shovelhead Build

HD Build

We would like to take a moment to thank anyone who has ever taken on a build, no matter how small. Whether it was just to learn how to work on a bike, making a ride more your own, or restoring n ancient motorcycles, we appreciate all of you. After all, it seems that the majority of the population doesn’t work on their rides at all anymore, so much so that we might call it a dying art. Because of this, we love seeing people who take the initiative and work on their bikes, whatever the reason may be.

HDForums member Jimmy, who is also known by his username jamminjimmi, has recently taken on a build of his own. While this certainly isn’t his first build, his most recent being a 2008 Harley-Davidson Street Glide, this one means a little bit more. The ride is a 1974 Harley-Davidson Shovelhead, which previously belonged to his brother-in-law’s father. After his father passed away, Jimmy decided that he would build the bike back up for his brother-in-law.

Of course, this bike is actually more than just a sentimental ride. It was also previously owner by AMA Motorcycle Museum Hall of Fame member Roger Reiman, with a certificate of authenticity to prove it. This is a ride worth restoring, for both reasons!

Jimmy is just getting started on the ride, so go stop by his build thread and show your support!
