A 1997 Harley-Davidson Road King Build

HD Build

Oftentimes people will jump into a build intentionally. Either they want to improve on their ride or they buy a beaten up bike with the intent of making it into something great. However, there are times when a build is rather, well, unintentional. Sometimes it’s a wreck that can lead to this, or maybe years of wear and tear that have brought it to where it is now. On the other hand, it might be a purchase that wasn’t quite as good as the new owner thought it was. One can only hope that they got a good deal.

This happened to HDForums member Derek (A.K.A. “djodrey“) when he recently purchased a 1997 Harley-Davidson Road King. Shortly after purchasing the ride, which was thankfully a good deal, the ride started smoking. A leak had developed where the block was split, so Derek came to a conclusion that pulling the motor over the winter would be a good idea. He plans to rebuild, fix, and upgrade it back to perfection!

This build is just getting started as we work our way into the cold months, so go check out Derek’s build thread and show your support!
