American Badass: Students’ Harley Build Entered in Battle of the Kings

By -

Our homework was never quite like this. Technical students build an American-as-apple-pie custom 2019 Road Glide.

Last year, Harley-Davidson threw down the gauntlet for trade school students. They could build a custom Harley and enter it to particulate in The Battle of the Kings competition. The response was impressive, with many students eagerly building some truly inspired bikes. It certainly beats a book report on “A Tale of Two Cities.”

A team of students from the Bristol Technical Education Center in Connecticut worked alongside Yankee Harley-Davidson for their project motorcycle.

According to the Bristol Observer, the team also received support from Explicit Airbrush, Shoreline Coatings LLC, Melnick Metal Works Inc., The Hometown Foundation, Inc., and, of course, Harley-Davidson.

The students spent three months on the 2019 Road Glide build. Their theme was “All-American,” and they executed it perfectly. The homage to early Harley roots meshes perfectly with their nod towards the future of motorcycles.

We have to also say how impressed we continue to be with the chops of these young mechanics-in-training. With the guidance of Yankee Harley-Davidson Crew Chief Matt Sowder, the young turks created a high-quality, high-performance build that we would happily rock on the road.

If you’d like to vote for this bike, you can do so online at the Battle of the Kings website. But you only have until until May 15 to cast your vote. And while you’re there, be sure to check out the amazing bikes in the competition.

We wish them good luck, and think the next generation of Harley riders, techs, and builders is a very promising and kickass crew.
