Aquaman Star Gets New Harley

Jason Momoa's New Harley

Actor and real-life biker Jason Momoa gets his hands on one of the first 2018 Softails.

Growing up as kids reading comic books and watching Saturday morning cartoons, we always liked Aquaman. We never quite understood why he was the butt of so many jokes, and we always found him to be a solid asset to the Justice League and a valuable part of the team. Years later, as adults, we feel vindicated for liking Aquaman…sort of.

An Aquaman movie is currently in the works, starring Jason Momoa as the underwater superhero. The Hawaiian-born actor is also known for playing Khal Drogo on Game of Thrones and starred in the 2014 motorcycle movie Road to Paloma. Well, it turns out that Momoa is a motorcycle enthusiast off-screen as well.

According to the actor, he always dreamed of making it big and buying his first Harley, which was the ’56 Panhead seen in Road to Paloma. He named the bike “Mabel” after his grandmother. Momoa, now 38, bought the bike at age 19 after achieving success in modeling. He rode it around Hawaii for years before customizing it for its big-screen debut.

Cheeeeehhhhoooooooooi. On set In Oz. What’s in da box What’s in the box. Never ever ever been surprised like today. So grateful so thankful since the day I started working I always wanted a Harley. I saved I dreamed one day I would buy a panhead. You saw it Road to Paloma My Mabel Bought my first bike a pan head Next came the knuckles I love vintage Harley’s. During a break in filming for the forthcoming Aquaman movie, Momoa returned to Village Roadshow Studios, where he was greeted by a giant crate emblazoned with Harley-Davidson logos. The surprise gift ended up being a brand-spanking-new 2018 Softail Slim.

The movie star eagerly took to Instagram, proudly sharing pictures and a video of his new bike. Besides the Panhead, Momoa is also a Knucklehead owner, so we know the bike’s in good company. He even began customizing it right away, painting it matte black in the parking lot before he even brought it home!

I’m a DIRTBAG at heart if it’s not rusty dirty or old. I’ll paint it all black #allblackeveything forever grateful @harleydavidson #mahalonuiloa #partner #softtailslim #freedommachine @silas_r_gaither. It’s time for the black stuff. Love u u crazy beast Aloha j

Momoa has to be one of the first people to get their hands on one of the new bikes, as they were just announced last week. Given his enthusiasm, we’d be hard-pressed to find a better celebrity endorsement.
