Harley-Davidson 1910 ReplicaNEW CLASSIC 1910 Track Board Racer by of Antique Motorbike Replicas

It’s not everyday that I can get excited about a motorized bicycle with a top speed of 35 miles per hour, but that was until I saw this 1910 Harley-Davidson board track racer replica (above) built by Gary Harmon of Antique Motorbike Replicas.

Harmon has been building them out of his garage in Hanover, Pennsylvania for about two years and so far has made 27 new classics.

“I have two of them in a private museum in Texas and a 1910 Winchester in a Winchester Museum in Iowa,” he said via email. “My local custom Harley-Davidson shop has bought five of them and they are of very good quality.”

AMR’s replicas currently sell between $1200 and $1500, and the pricing depends on the year, model and additional add ons. And here’s the best part: they can be shipped anywhere in the U.S. in a regular bicycle box for an extra $150 or so.

“I can make one look like any old picture you come across,” he explains. Harmon is currently toying with the idea of building a 1910 Harley with a side car.

You can find more examples of his fantastic work on his Facebook page under Antique Motorbike Replicas. Harmon grew up in Southern California and is no stranger to classic motorcycles – his first bike was a 1967 Electra Glide that he restored.

I knew nothing about Harleys at the time, however I have worked in an automotive engine/machine shop since I was out of high school,” he said. “I read, researched and about a year later my beautiful 1967 was restored,” adding, “I wish I still had it.”

Ain’t that the truth?

“As for these bikes, I had been thinking about it for about three years. The old 1900s motorcycles were not much more than a bicycle with an engine. I decided to build my first one in 2012, listed it on eBay and it sold rather quick – so the rest is history.”

You can say that custom motorcycles are in his DNA since his father founded Santee choppers with a partner back in the day. But back to the replicas.

“I usually go by a picture of a real motorcycle, and try to make it as close as possible, while still keeping it affordable,” he explains.

“They are really a blast to ride. They only go about 35 mph, but get about 100 mpg, so it’s fun to just take off on a back road and relax for a few hours while riding.”

And he’s the best part, when you run out of gas they can be ridden like a bicycle when the engine is not running.

“I have a customer in Virginia that rides his to work (six miles one way) and when he does see a cop he (for safe measure) shuts the engine off and starts peddling.”

But, Harmon warns…

“If you ride in public be prepared to be bombarded with questions and people wanting to take pictures. It’s amazing how much attention they get. I’ve brought a few to custom bike shows and it’s almost embarrassing because these “cheap” little motorbikes draw more of a crowd that the BIG $$$ bikes.”

Well, they certainly don’t look cheap to me and I’m sold. Tell us what you think about them on the forum.
