Coolbeth Wins Springfield Mile on HD XR750

AMA Pro Racing GNC Mile

Springfield, Illinois hosted a Harley-Davidson GNC1 series race this past weekend at the famous Springfield Mile, and bringing home the victory by an incredibly small margin was Kenny Coolbeth, Jr.

Coolbeth rode his Harley-Davidson XR750 to victory with a margin of just 0.009 seconds. I believe that that is officially “by a nose.” The Screamin’ Eagle Wrecking Crew factory rider knew that he wouldn’t be able to execute a drafting pass to take the lead, “so I buried it off in there just like I did when I beat him the other time and it worked out.”

Work out it did. It’s the fifth time that Coolbeth has won five times at Springfield. He’s a three-time AMA Grand National champion — the most of any active rider in the series — and this marks his 36th win of his career.

The next race is at the Sonoma County Fairgrounds on September 25th, 2016.
