Fastest Woman on Wheels Is Sturgis Rally’s Grand Marshal

New promo names South Dakota native Jessi Combs as choice rider for 2017 Mayor’s Ride on August 7.

OK, technically Jessi Combs is known as the fastest woman on four wheels, but we’re guessing she’s pretty speedy on two wheels, too. In a new promo spot for the upcoming 77th Sturgis Rally, the Black Hills native was named Grand Marshal for 2017 Mayor’s Ride on August 7.

In the ad, Sturgis Mayor Mark Carstensen is playing cards with some locals in a saloon when a young boy bursts into the bar and announces, “Mayor, Mayor! The new marshal’s in town!” After roaring into town on her motorcycle, Combs makes a stunning entrance into the saloon and saunters up to the men. “That’s right, boys,” she says. “I’m the new marshal in town.”

The promo video has received some mixed reviews in the clip’s YouTube’s comments, like Night Rider who states, “OMG this is worse than a Mentos commercial.” However, the majority of viewers are stoked by Combs’ appearance in the ad and at the upcoming rally. Says Eric Freund, “Love it. She’s pretty bad ass.”

‘I’m honored to represent the Sturgis Rally, an event that holds over 30 years of unforgettable memories.’

Being held August 4-13 in Sturgis, South Dakota, the 77th Sturgis Rally will have all of your biking fun plus entertainment by the legendary Ozzy Osbourne on August 9, and Lynyrd Skynyrd, Blink-182, George Thorogood and the Destroyers, Ratt, Night Ranger, Alter Bridge, and the Doobie Brothers playing throughout the event.

Armed with a degree in Custom Automotive Fabrication, Combs has appeared on TV shows like The List: 1001 Car Things to do Before You Die, All Girls Garage, Overhaulin’ and Mythbusters. With a passion for speed, Combs has built and raced nearly everything on two, four and more wheels. To date, she’s the fastest woman on four wheels, holding the speed record of 398 mph with a top speed of 477.59 mph.

“I am honored to represent the Sturgis Rally, an event that holds over 30 years of unforgettable memories for me, as well as all the women who have helped pave the motorcycling path for so many others,” says Combs.

Carstensen says, “Her incredible love of everything fast is infectious and we look forward to spending time with her on the Mayor’s Ride and during our many other events taking place during the 2017 Rally.”

Hopefully, she’ll slow her roll a little for the mayor’s ride so we can enjoy her appearance at the rally.
