Barber contests, concerts, a photo exhibit, and a charity ride on Oct. 20 are on the card at Hong Kong Harley celebration.

All throughout 2018, the whole world has draped itself in orange and black in honor of Harley-Davidson’s 115th anniversary. From Prague to the MoCo’s home of Milwaukee, Harley fans and supporters have come out to celebrate the storied history, culture, and motorcycles linked to one of America’s greatest icons.

Though the year is winding ever downward, that doesn’t mean the party is set to stop. The South China Morning Post reports the Hong Kong chapter of the Harley Owners Group and Harley-Davidson Hong Kong are in the middle of celebrating the MoCo’s 115th in style from through October 20.

 

Centered around the Stanley Plaza shopping center just north of Stanley Bay on Hong Kong Island’s southernmost peninsula, the festivities began on Oct. 13 with a gathering of vintage and new Harley-Davidson models at the shopping center, along with photography tours of Hong Kong’s landmarks, led by famed German camera manufacturer Leica. Harley-Davidson Hong Kong also has a pop-up shop at Murray House at Stanley Plaza.

On October 14, skilled barbers from around Hong Kong competed in the city’s first-ever barber battle. The winners of the two categories were not only be crowned “a champion among the community,” but also took home Leica’s first-ever instant camera, the SOFORT.

Leica’s presence at the 115th Harley anniversary party in Hong Kong doesn’t end there. The company is hosting a photography exhibition featuring a shortlist of participants in Harley-Davidson Hong Kong’s #MyRoadsHK Instagram contest. The exhibition runs throughout the week.

Finally, H.O.G. Hong Kong will wrap things up on October 20 with its third annual Po Leung Kuk Charity Ride. The 35-mile route runs from SkyCity Marriott to Murray House at Stanley Plaza, with a stop at Eastern Harbour Crossing. At the end of the ride, a full-day of live performances and local rock and blues music will fill the air.

If you happen to be in Hong Kong, a $64 (U.S.) donation will get you in, and $3 will get you through the tolls along the route. Donations are accepted either in-person before the 20, or at registration the day of; you can also register online until Oct. 18. Proceeds will benefit Po Leung Kuk, a charity providing services to women, children, and the elderly in Hong Kong.

“Hong Kong’s Harley community has been active for more than 20 years,” event organiser and MoCo marketing specialist Ashleigh Martin told the South China Morning Press. “It’s one big party. If you’re a Harley fan there is nowhere else to be.”
