Stunning Chicago Police FLH lives on in retirement following exhaustive restoration.

Harley-Davidson and law enforcement have enjoyed a strong relationship for decades. This is particularly true in the great city of Chicago, where the police department was one of the earlier adopters of motorcycles. Whether you’re talking about Servi-Cars or plain old two-wheelers like this gorgeous 1965 Harley FLH. And that proud tradition lives on today.

And yet, you don’t see a ton of vintage police bikes still kicking around. Many have been converted or chopped up, unrecognizable from their days of service. And in fact, this 1965 Harley FLH wasn’t originally a police spec bike. But with a host of NOS police parts, it’s about as close as you can get. And the obsession that the owner took in completing the restoration is downright admirable.

It all started when the owner spotted an NOS police speedometer at a swap meet several years ago. He then began collecting other original parts with the idea of converting his FLH into a tribute police bike. But then he located a one-owner Panhead that made an even better candidate. And that’s when the madness truly began. At this point, you’d be hard pressed to tell that this Harley FLH wasn’t a police bike to begin with.

Not only is the bike now a rolling NOS police parts bin, it even comes with a ’60s vintage Chicago police helmet and a new shirt with reproduction emblems. The passion of the current owner really shows, and yet, he’s ready to move on.

Still, this is one of the nicest Harley police tribute bikes we’ve ever come across. And even though we wouldn’t recommend donning the uniform and cruising around the Windy City, we’re guessing this Harley FLH would be a huge hit at any local parade or motorcycle show.
