Planned motorcycle would have an engine smaller than 500cc, sell for around $4,000, go after offerings from BMW and KTM.

No matter where in the world you go, sooner or later, you’ll find a Harley rumbling down the road. Some roads are smooth, like those in Germany or Japan. Others are rough and tumble, like the mountain roads in Chile or India.

And speaking of India, the MoCo has a presence in the country of over 1 billion, and it wants to expand there per its “More Roads to Harley-Davidson” roadmap as part of its overall plan to grow the market in Southeast Asia. According to Zig Wheels, that means a low-cost, high-volume unit set for release in 2020.

Per Zig Wheels (whose report should be taken with some salt), the new Harley would be priced around $4,000, and would be a sub-500cc model aimed at the likes of the KTM 390 Duke and BMW G 310 R, powered by an air-and-oil-cooled V-Twin with fuel injection to keep costs down across the board.

The sub-500cc Harley would be assembled in a domestic partnership with local vendors, like those already involved in the production of the Street 750’s frame. Said frame would serve as the basis for the new Harley, and would resemble a miniature Street 750 or Street Rod.

Before hitting the showroom, Zig Wheels speculates the new sub-500cc Harley would land on the global stage at the 2019 EICMA (a.k.a., the Milan Motorcycle Shows) in Milan, Italy November 7 through 10. We certainly can’t wait to see this Harley hit the road.
