Horrific Motorcycle Crash in New Hampshire Kills 7
Seven motorcyclists were killed over the weekend when a pickup truck towing a trailer crashed into them during a group ride.
UPDATE (06/24/19): Fox News reports that the driver of the pickup truck has been arrested.
Seven motorcyclists were killed and three hospitalized after a pickup truck towing a trailer crashed into a group of riders. The horrific tragedy happened on Friday, June 21, on U.S. Route 2 in Randolph, New Hampshire.
The motorcyclists were part of the Marine JarHeads MC, a motorcycle club made up of U.S. Marine veterans and their spouses. According to Boston.com, the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), has been called in to investigate the cause of the accident.
The NTSB is usually referenced in relation to airplane crashes, and their involvement is a sobering indication of the scope of this tragedy. Even days later, details about the accident–and how it happened–are still thin.
What we do know is that the vehicle involved was a 2016 Dodge Ram 2500 towing a flatbed car hauler. That vehicle was being driven for a company called Westfield Transport by 23-year-old driver Volodoymyr Zhukovskyy.
The photos of the fiery crash tell a story of sheer destruction. Broken motorcycles and their parts are scattered across the road, while the black pickup truck burns behind them, its trailer dramatically jackknifed into the truck bed and tailgate.
At the time of the collision, it appears that the truck was not carrying any cars on the trailer. The NTSB and local authorities are still investigating.
Many local motorcyclists visited the crash site to pay respects to their fallen brothers. While the scene of destruction has been cleaned up, a patch of blackened grass remains as a grim reminder of what happened there. A small memorial service was held at a nearby church last Saturday.
The fallen motorcyclists ranged in age from 42 to 62 years old. In a follow-up story, Boston.com listed the names of the riders, all of whom hailed from New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Massachusetts.
Here at Harley-Davidson Forums, we offer our sincere condolences to the families of these motorcyclists: Michael Ferazzi, Albert Mazza Jr., Desma Oakes, Aaron Perry, Daniel Pereira, Jo-Ann Corr, and Edward Corr.
