Yesterday at approximately 5:30 PM CST, HDForums member Buzzfin bought a couple of gallons of gas for his new 2014 HD, which was low, at his local 7-Eleven located at 529 E. Hwy 121, Lewisville, TX (a northwestern Dallas suburb). According to him, he fired up his cycle and before even leaving the parking lot, “the bike started choking and sputtering.” He stopped the bike to diagnose the problem and discovered water in his fuel tank. The attendant confirmed that their tanks were very low (the reason the pump ran slowly), which can cause water to be dispensed at it may sit at the bottom of storage tanks.

Not only did Buzzfin potentially “fuel” his motorcycle unknowingly with water (the photo above shows gasoline sitting atop water), but the attendant at the 7-Eleven wouldn’t even give him a bottle of fuel additive to try to remedy the situation or placate Buzzfin. Fortunately, he did make it home safely after draining the tank twice and having a friend show up with fuel from another station. Although when he left the 7-Eleven, “none of the pumps had been shut off, bagged, or tagged out of order.”

As of this morning (12-16-13), Buzzfin has been in touch with Texas’ Dept of Weights and Measures who are supposed to reach out later this week. To follow the saga and see what happens, head to the forums, here. Give ’em hell, Buzzfin!

UPDATE (12-17-13 9:20 PST): A representative from 7-Eleven has reached out to Buzzfin and told him that all of his expenses will be paid for… we’re going to wait and see…
