Military Brat for Sale: Harley-Davidson MT350 in the UK

In case you haven’t noticed, I’ve got a thing for oddball stuff, and I love checking out the weird little stepchildren of the MoCo’s family tree. As far as oddball cache goes, this British military spec MT350 for sale over in jolly old England definitely fits the bill.

Essentially, the bike is more of an Armstrong MT500—Harley bought the rights to manufacture the bikes in the late ’80s—so the single cylinder soldier is more like an Aermacchi or Hummer in that it doesn’t share any DNA with its beefy American cousins. From what I understand, the Armstrong acquisition had more to do with the MoCo getting it’s hands on some of the Rotax engine tech for use on factory dirt track teams than any desire to provide two-wheelers for foreign militaries. Today, our Marines ride diesel-running Kawasaki KLRs, and while the Canadians used MT350s, that was as close as they came to seeing duty for a North American military.
