Glendale Harley Hosts Night of Bikers, Blues & Badasses

SoCal dealership presents Hollywood premiere of indie motorcycle thriller Rebel on the Highway, and free onsite concert, Nov. 25 in L.A.

Southern California’s Harley-Davidson of Glendale is taking advantage of its close proximity to the entertainment capital of the world by hosting the Hollywood premiere of a new indie biker flick, Rebel on the Highway, on Nov. 25 in Downtown Los Angeles.

Perhaps most famous for its legendary (but now defunct) Love Ride festival, Harley-Davidson of Glendale is a longtime supporter of some of SoCal’s coolest biker events, including the annual “Ride for Ronnie” charity ride benefitting the Ronnie James Dio Stand Up and Shout Cancer Fund.

Hyped as a “biker movie by bikers for bikers,” Rebel on the Highway features a cast comprised of musicians, motorcycle journalists, bike builders, racers, and motorcycle club members from California, Louisiana, Wisconsin, and New York. The only professional actor in the movie is Mickey Jones, whose side job once included a stint as Bob Dylan’s drummer.

The dramatic thriller was co-written by musician Charlie Brechtel and his wife Sabrina Brechtel. An accomplished professional musician who has played with legends likes John Lee Hooker and Greg Allman, Brechtel borrows from his storied musical career to tell the story of “Charlie,” a down-on-his-luck musician, played by Brechtel, and his struggle with the Devil, who uses a touch of voodoo to gain possession of the musician’s soul.

The story culminates with a motorcycle race on a lonely road in Angels Camp, California, as the Devil puts everything on the line in a final attempt to win another man’s soul.

New Orleans native Brechtel integrates music into the movie via cast members who are also seasoned musicians, including Grammy-winning blues artist Charlie Musselwhite.

Harley-Davidson of Glendale’s Nov. 25 presentation of Rebel on the Highway includes a complimentary pre-party starting at 11 a.m. at Harley-Davidson of Glendale, where both Charlie Musselwhite and the Charlie Brechtel Band will perform. The show starts at 3 p.m. Admission is free. Free tacos, burritos and quesadillas sweeten the deal.

The Rebel on the Highway screening begins at 3 p.m. at Los Angeles’ Downtown Independent Theater, located at 251 S. Main St. General admission is $10.
