This 1958 Harley-Davidson Duo Glide FLH is a Vintage Beauty

1958 was a year that saw a number of changes for Harley’s large frame FL/FLH model. It was given an entirely new frame with a rear swing arm that hung from coil-over shocks. Because of this fully suspended chassis, the model name was changed from Hydra-Glide to Duo-Glide.

That fancy new rear suspension was a welcomed change, giving riders a smoother and more modern ride. These changes, along with the Panhead engine would live until 1965, when both were replaced by the Electra-Glide moniker and Knucklehead engine.

This fully restored 1958 is a vintage beauty, and a perfect example of an FLH, which had a little bit of a boost in power over the FL. The 74 ci Panhead produced around 58-60 horsepower, compared to the 53-55 advertised in the FL. The hotter FLH was a little bit harder to kick over, however.

Despite that small detail, if you’re looking for a vintage beauty, it’s hard to argue with a hopped up Duo-Glide FLH. This cruiser has it all – the looks, the sound, the power, and it won’t beat you up in the rear either. Which, despite what your hardcore buddies might tell you, it isn’t that much fun!
