Ride the California Coastline in Outsider

By -

Harley-riding filmmaker Dyana Carmella provides a beautifully-shot, intimate look inside the world of those who ride with passion.

Much of the country now is looking winter dead in the eye. It’s a tough time, putting bikes into hibernation for the winter. So, we thought we’d bring you some images of sunnier days with a great video that will inspire you to hop on your hog as soon as the snowflakes start melting away. And if you do live in warmer climates, you probably won’t even finish the video before you’re out the door and on the road.

In her popular YouTube series Outsider, Harley-riding filmmaker Dyana Carmella travels around and documents her adventures, hoping to inspire people to get out and explore. And her latest Outsider episode is a personal video and perhaps one of the most compelling clips so far. In it, Carmella rides with her father, an avid Harley-Davidson man who helped introduce her to bikes and foster her love for motorcycles. The short film follows a ride up the picturesque California coast with her dad and 10 Harley-Davidson riders from the local Simi Valley HOG Chapter.

‘You go out for a ride, especially to a place you’ve never been before, you’re getting it from a different vantage point than just sitting inside a car. I’m so damn lucky.’

Carmella captures breath-taking footage of the ride, from the hills to the Pacific Ocean. She also engages in some fascinating conversations about why these bikers love riding their “immaculate chariots.”

She asks these seasoned riders what their first ride was like. Stogie-chomping Don Doxsee says, “I liked that feeling and freedom of being in control of my own machine.”

When asked why they love to ride, the answers are enthusiastic and genuine. One rider says, “You go out for a ride, especially to a place you’ve never been before, you’re getting it from a different vantage point than just sitting inside a car. It’s just different. I’m so damn lucky.”

The video is filmed beautifully and crafted with much love by Carmella and is definitely a good way to fight those winter blues. Check it out; it just may inspire you to jump on your Harley and plan your own SoCal excursion.
