Softail Street Bob Project Brings Back Dyna Vibe

Softail Street Bob

Hot Bike attempts to resurrect the Dyna with a custom Softail Street Bob. And the results are pretty awesome.

The Harley-Davidson Dyna is dead. Long live the Harley-Davidson Dyna. Many of us miss Harley’s muscular old ride, and for good reason. But the reality is, if you want one, you’ve got to scour the used bike market. Alternatively, you could build something like this club-style Sportster Street Bob, which the guys over at Hot Bike just finished. In fact, the entire point of this project was to show Dyna lovers that you could indeed get those awesome club-style looks on a new and improved platform. And we’d say they hit the nail right on the head!

The result of that work doesn’t just look better, of course. In fact, Hot Bike‘s Jeff Holt made a pretty bold statement after testing out their new Softail creation. “I am not going to mince words here. Yes, the new lean-framed Softails (not the Breakout or Fat Boy with the wide-tire frame) rode better than any stock-model Dyna I have ridden. Does it handle better than any stock FXR I have ridden? Yes, it does.”

So how how exactly did they pull this off? Well, it starts with appearances. There’s the requisite H-D quarter fairing, T-bars, and an H-D Badlander seat straight from the Dyna family. And starting with the Softail Street Bob means that everything else is already blacked out for you. The team at Hot Bike also added a Screamin’ Eagle Stage II Torque Kit, Extreme Flow air cleaner, and Pro Street Tuner for some extra power.

The result is a simple yet highly effective statement maker. It might not be the Dyna that so many of us miss so dearly, but it is a nice consolation prize. And maybe, just maybe, it proves that the new, rather expansive Softail lineup ain’t so bad after all!
