Southern Country Customs Wants to Build 'Baddest Customs on the Planet'

Street Glide S Custom has snazzy sound, electric center stand and more.

If you’re looking for a Harley Davidson custom bagger, and want one that’s bigger and badder than what your buddies tool around on, there are more than a few places you can go to get one.

For a good example, check out this custom bagger from Southern Country Customs out of Mooresville, North Carolina. It’s a 2019 Street Glide S, and it is a big, bold, black and chrome number powered by a 114ci engine with an S&S 475 cam.

Carbon Fiber Saddlebags

The bike has a Covington Holeshot, 2-into-1, black ceramic and chrome exhaust that was modified by the builders to flow smoothly around the carbon fiber saddlebags.

The front is dominated by a fat, 21-inch tire, a tightly wrapped front fender, raked outer fairing and 14-inch meat hook handlebars. It also has a custom stitched seat, front and rear air ride and an electric center stand.

And what’s a custom bagger without a snazzy sound system? This one has carbon 8-inch speakers in the lids, 8-inch speakers in the fairing, and an upgraded amp in the tour pack.

‘If You Can Dream It’

The company says it will build custom motorcycle from the ground up, or trick up your current ride.

“If it’s Harley-based and you can dream it, we can make it happen,” SCC says on its web page.

Company spokesman Lee Gibbs mentioned that the Sport Glide S highlighted here is obviously powerful and full of high-end performance parts, but that’s not all the company strives for.

“These are high performance motorcycles, but we also try to make them ride-able,” Gibbs said. “(The Street Glide S) is built to a high level of performance but it’s also kind of bullet proof.”

The asking price for the Street Glide was $64,500. It has since been sold.

Baddest Bagger on Planet?

The company that came up with it says it only has one major goal: “To build the baddest custom Harley Davidson motorcycles on the planet.”

Not a small goal for a relatively new outfit. SCC was founded in 2019 by Rusty Wallace, the famed NASCA driver, and his son Stephen.

The Street Glide S custom, along with their other customs, strongly suggests that is no idle boast.

Prestigious DNA

SCC certainly has some prestigious DNA with Rusty Wallace on board as a part owner. And apparently Wallace isn’t one of those part owners that does nothing but lend his name.

The fiery redhead puts in considerable time at the shop and gets involved with virtually every aspect of the custom builds, according to Gibbs.

“When he comes in, he’s got his mind on exactly what he wants to do,” Gibbs told hdforums.com “He just jumps right in.”

Hall of Fame Career

Wallace of course had a Hall of Fame career racing stock cars, winning the 1984 NASCAR Cup series Rookie of the Year, the 1989 NASCAR Winston Cup Championship and 55 races throughout his racing career.

He was known as a fierce competitor and still loves speed.

“He’s still that same way in everything he does,” Gibbs said. “He rides the same way he did when he was racing. It’s a great outlet for him.”

Wallace is a typical Harley owner in many respects. He is a regular at the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, and has put together numerous charity rides at the South Dakota event.
