without a helmet or with a helmet but no face guard, then sunglasses are
a necessity. Not only can they cut down on road glare and protect your
eyes from UV, they’ll block the bugs and rocks and other debris coming
up from the road. If you ride a Harley, you’ll probably want Harley
sunglasses. Not just any motorcycle will do for you, so why settle for
just any sunglasses?

Standard Sunglasses

Harley Davidson offers two levels of eye wear, performance and
standard sunglasses. The sun glasses are the more affordable of the two.
They have 14 models from which to choose. Although, there are options
in terms of color and lens color within given models, making a lot more
true options. All styles but one come at a manufacturer’s suggested
retail price of $28-$30. The style known as “The Regulator,” though,
lists at $45. You can check the styles out at Harley Davidson’s website, but you’ll only find their sunglasses at the dealers.

Performance Eyewear

The Performance Eyewear offered by Harley Davidson are designed
specifically for motorcycle riders. They are intended to give allow
maximum vision while protecting the eyes. in 2010 Harley has three
different categories under Performance Eyewear: Classic, Custom and
Performance.

Classic

Harley Davidson has 17 styles under the “Classic” heading in their
Performance Eyewear series. You can expect to pay between $35 and $60 for
the eyewear under this heading. Unlike the sunglasses, many of these
can be purchased online at Harley’s website.

Custom

The central difference between the “Classic” and “Custom” styles are
the looks. Custom are more trendy styles and designs. They run about $75
a pair. Just like the classic varieties, many of the custom performance
eyewear can be purchased online.

Performance

There are three men’s styles under the “Performance” category. The
Men’s Cylinder Performance Eyewear are adaptable glasses. Not only can
you exchange the lens between smoked and clear lenses (for night
driving), but there is a mid-section that snaps in and out. This portion
seals out the elements for riding and comes off to allow you to wear
them as sunglasses when you don’t need the extra protection. The
Cylinder Performance Eyewear lists for $100. There are also two types of
profile glasses under the Performance category. The first of those is
essentially the same as far as pricing and function as the cylinder
ones, but in a different style. The second type, though, look like the
first variety of profile glasses, but rather than allowing for changing
of lenses, the lens auto adjusts to light. That variety costs $25 more.
All three can be purchased online or in stores.

No matter which type of sunglasses you prefer, Harley Davidson
probably offers a pair that will suit your needs. Riding in the summer
with an open face helmet (or no helmet) means you’ll need good
sunglasses to protect your eyes.
