you would still want to clear it before you add the 3M, i acuatlly use that stuff ALOT on sleds, quads, and bikes. Works great! i have it all over my powder coated hitch on my truck as well so when i stand on it i do not scratch the powder. good stuff! my buddy taht does window tint showed me how to use it and apply it, takes some practice but you can get really good and clean at it. Goes on alot like window tint does
I meant, I was going to use the film prior to me knowing about the 2k stuff. I would apply it over the clear I have now. But I might use the 2k instead. Its pricey stuff though at $20+ per can
a single can goes a long way, but when you figure how much 2 stage clear, activator, hardener, and leveler cost, then you hav to mix it, set your gun, then clean up costs to clean your gun and work area... $20 a can is a STEAL! i shoot paint at times and when i clear if I can, i will use this over the guns
Wow, that's some great looking paint jobs! I touched up the black trim on my truck with a rattle can but I don't think I'd trust myself to do a bike. That's impressive stuff!
I used VHT's High Temperature Wrinkle Plus on my battery, AC and electrical caddy covers and am very happy with the results.
I just sanded down the gloss black and cleaned the surface with alcohol and followed the can directions.
The only glitch was that after the first application and drying, there were patches that were not wrinkled. I looked at their website, which said that curing for 20 minutes in a 200 degree oven was necessary, whereas the can instructions said it was an option.
So, I did a second application on top of the first and did the curing and it turned out great and feels very solid.
I'll see how it holds up, but for now, it's just what I was looking for at a price I liked.
