extended saddlebags and scraping?
im getting some 4.5" extended saddlebags. do any of you that have them have issues with scraping? im putting them on a sg. are there any skid plates for them?

Both of mine scrape
I have baddad bags. No more hard turns for me Baddad sells skid plates. |
I'm sure somebody will chime in with an issue, but I have never seen any HD extended bags scrape.
ARBOC - how extended are your bags? |
I'm expecting delivery on a complete rear end kit from Bad Dad for my '14 streetglide and interested in this topic. I saw their skid plates and have been looking for some feedback on all the skid plates out there in general and not just the Bad Dad ones. Anyone leaned hard into a turn and found them useful? Doesn't the footpeg hit before the saddlebag?

Have HD extended bags on my 14 SGS and have yet to scrape. Have hit floorboards but not bags.

Check Top Shop Viper bags and their Minister fender. The 4.5 bags are cut at an angle on the bottom. There not cheap and suposto not drag when riding aggressive. It's is my plan for the winter. |
I have 4" stretched on my Roadking, have not come close to scraping. Cant imagine another 1\2" making that much difference in lean angle. As said before I think you will drag the boards before scraping the bags. Now on 5 or 6" stretched bags, all bets are off.

Here are the ones I used on my 07. Was worth the money to save the bags. Only ones at the time that not only protected the bottom but also the edge. Not sure if anyone is making one that protects the edge like these |
This will be a winter project of mine (new rear fender & 4.5 extended bags) - when I pick-up my 15' SGS I pulled the stock shocks off and installed a set of 13" JRI shocks which bumped up the back, when I put the 21" wheel in the front it leveled the bike back out with just a little higher stance - something to think about.....
