Bought and intalled new maps

Since the map software on my 2014 SGS is from 2012 I decided to purchase and install the new maps update from naviextras.com
The download was horrible, it stopped 4 different times due to errors during the download and each time I had to put the thumb drive back in the bike to download the ID file because somehow the naviextras toolbox corrupted the file on it.
The naviextras toolbox that you need to download first only works when it feels like it. Possibly this is all due to the download site being from who knows where.
After 2 days I finally got it downloaded and then attempted to load it into the bike. This should have been the easy part "Not hardly" the screen just kept saying "authenticating"
After numerous attempts to download I finally called Harley Davidson who's number is listed on their website as customer support.
Jamie was the individual I spoke to and he advised me that people have had numerous problems loading the maps.
He advised me to turn the ignition to on, allow the system to boot up and the navigation to boot completely up then plug the thumb drive in. It seems that most times the system gets stuck in the authenticating mode unless you do it that way.
Finally got it loaded and will see how it goes.
Hope others have better luck with this than I did.

So what is the map date for the new file? Is it still a 2 year old map?

Hope it works out OK and is worth it with no more hip ups. With your map over two years old should be many new features added. Glad you finally got it loaded. Shame it was so difficult to do.

After spending $150 on a update I would be shitt'n bricks for the 2 days it took to install. Glad you got'r going! Let us know what you think of the new maps!

That whole deal of Naviextras being from Romania gives me the shivers...but would like a new map set.

Does the map version after install indicate you installed 2017 maps?

The map version does say its the 2017 version. I noticed that while out riding today that one of the bypass roads that was built within the last two years was showing up on the map.

At the price they want Ill just keep using google maps bluetoothed through the audio,
I would be interested it your review of the map/functions.... so far per you review download is beyond that of my patience level for a map update unless it makes entering destinations easier and better search functions imo

Thanks for the heads up. I bought last years map and didn't notice any difference between the original as far as some old construction and roads goes.

Glad someone has the balls to jump out there and do it.

Thanks for the information and review. I'll wait until I hear your next report and whether you feel it was worth it.

Would like to update before heading down to Daytona, but have been enough I don't need a GPS anyway.
