I thought it was interesting that when installing the 3 pouch windshield bag on the new FLHTK the gap was wide enough that Harley supplied foam weatherstrip pieces to close the space on the outboard edges of the fairing. On the '12 FLHX , that wasn't needed, just the spacers for the windshield bolts..........

I'm sure this issue will be all neat and tidy on the 15's while we cobble something together on the 14's. Guess that's the price of "first-year" ownership ;)

Heck, maybe HD's fix will be able to be retrofitted?

I didn't have a gap when it was delivered. After changing the W/S, it did, then got help.
I tightened the center screw 1st, then had a buddy push on the right side and tightened the right screw, the the left. It helped.

YMMV

I notice the same gap, before and after windscreen install.

Yep mine also.

There was a lengthly discussion last year about this.. Both I ( Fast Aire) & Clearview Shields commented on it.

Ive seen multiples on the dealers floor & my 014 SGS that has a gap in between the two screws. Adding a windshield trim does help in closing the gap some but it may not eliminate it.

OK,You made Me go look.Mine does not have the gap.I installed the windshield trim, but did not torque the screws like the instructions said.Torque would crush trim piece.Try tightening screws till they are snug and see what gap looks like.

My '14 has it too, probably an 1/8" at the widest part. I looked at every '14 on the sales floor and they all have it.

There is a photo, looking down ono a new FLHX in the '14 catalog. If you look closely, it has the gap on each side too.

I went to the hardware store and got a couple of very small rubber washers with the same diameter as the screw. I sandwiched two of them in between the middle screw and fairing, but it didn't really help any.

Oh well.

Sad that HD didn't do a better job than this on the fairing. Guess I'll have to make do as well.

I just switched out my windshield to a 6.5 LRS shield and noticed a small gap on each side. It's not bad and it was probably there before I put it on. I'm just glad I saw this thread or it might have driven me nuts lol!!
