Why won't '13 seats fit '14s?
 

I keep seeing notes that Hammock and Sundowner seats that will fit '09 and up touring models will not 2014 models with Tour Paks. I even read a thread on HDForums that said it would fit, but the seat was wobbly.

Anybody actually put an older seat on the new Rushmores with a Tour Pak? If so, what was your experience?

My Sundowner originally on a 08 SG and then a 11SG fits my 14 RoadKing, think there is something about not fitting with the new TourPak. I Should have read second part of your post before answering.

I moved 2012 Road King seat from 2012 Limited to 2014 Limited with no problems.Fits perfect and tour pack is adjusted all the way forward.

I believe they will fit but the '14 tour pack has been redesigned moving the seatback maybe a bit higher. So the '14 seats for tourpack models are a bit taller and wider that previous years.

So the older seats should work but aesthetically may not look the best (may make seatback hit higher up on the persons back?)

They fit just fine...

There is a bit more clearance between the seat and the speakers and the TP.

Besides, HD just wants you to buy more accessories from them.

08 to 13 seats fit the 14 bikes fine, just more clearance at speakers as mentioned above. But the new 14 seats will not fit the older bikes as they are too wide.

I don't have a tour pack on my '14 FLHX, but my Mustang Touring seat off of my '09 FLHT fits the '14 just fine.

Sundowner off my '12 SG fits new bike fine... Now to find somebody that wants to swap a stock SG for a Sundowner......

On the 14 ultra and Limited the passenger part of the seat is about 2" taller then on previous years. I put the Hammock off my 12 Limited on my 14 Limited. My wife started complaint about her back hurting after about an hour on the bike due to the backrest hitting her too high on the back. Put the Hammock seat made for the 14 on and no more back pain.

Thanks all for the info. Considering the seat would hit her in a bad spot in her back, I guess I'll have to spring for a new seat instead of buying used.
