hidden antenna install
I installed the JM hidden fm & cb antenna's today. A couple questions:
|
I had some rubber socks laying around. Similar to the covers found on bungee cords. You can find them at most hardware stores. As for the weird bowing of the fairing, comes that way really. Back the center screw out a couple turns but make sure you drop a dab of loctite.

I don't think you done anything wrong. Mine is the same way, say many others with the same gap and center part sucked in...

I bought a couple of . I put some electrical tape on the antenna studs, and screwed on the skull caps. They've been on there since I bought my bike. I can easily take it off to put the CB antenna back on too.

Thanks guys. I didn't pay attention to it coming off but didn't think it was bowed like that.
Those skull valve caps are a great idea! |
On the Ultra Classic, there is no CB antenna installed nor mount for it, in the hole is a small plastic plug - costs about 25 cents - part number 12100023

There bowed like that straight from the Moco, next time you're at the dealer take a look. Just place a washer on the fairing mount bolt between the shield and outer fairing and that will take care of the bow, at least that's what I did.

These vinyl tips cost $6.50 for a bag of 24 and they fit perfectly on the posts.

On the Tour Pack, you can remove the stud then replace with the plug mentioned above.
As far as the fairing gaps, I eliminated mine with a Freedom Shield (thicker than stock shield) and installed the HD windshield trim. Yep...had to spend more money to get it right... |
