Liquid and streaks in gauges

Hey there,

first of all please bare with me about my English. I live in Germany and I am not a native English speaker! :)

So I have a problem with my gauges since the beginning. I bought a new 2016 SGS in June `16. After a few kilometers (round about 3.500) I recognized kind a streaks on the inside of the glass of the mail gauge.

I went to the dealer and they changed them (luckily I got the CVO gauges). After another 3.500km those streaks appeared again and my Harley Dealer told me that this is "normal". So now I passed the 11.500km last week and on top of those streaks my LEDs for the Odometer fall out partially.

So now I will get my third gauge from the dealer. But the question is, does anyone have the same problem with the gauges or is this more a European problem because of the temperature here?

All the best,
M@rkus

Welcome to the forum! Your English is a 1000 times better than my German! LOL

Yes I also own a 2016 model Limited and I have some streaks inside the speedometer glass. This was a bad problem for me with my last bike a 2010 Ultra. I am disappointed to see it now with the newer bike. Guess I need to say something to the dealer.

Ride safe

It's been the norm for my gauges to streak inside. I stopped having them replaced under warranty. Haven't had a problem with the numbers in the odometer.

Your English is fine. As good as most, including mine and it's my first and only language. :icon_neutral:

My 16 rgu has the same problem. Dealer is gonna replace it. I had a 15 & 17 that didn't have that feature.

Sorry - I should have translated it :

Welcome to the boards. They have a 2014 Ultra Limited. I had some stripes on my 2011 - but did none on my 2014. Plus, I've never had any problems with my odometer falling apart.
My suggestion is, as it is still under warranty, let the dealer resolve the matter.
By the way, my wife is from Weinweiller - near Karsenslieten

Yes, I have had the speedo/tach replaced on a 2014 Limited and the replacement did the same thing in 2 or 3 thousand miles.

I now have a 15 CVO Limited and had the same problem. The replacement did the same as the other bike and I guess I'll try again before my warranty runs out. I have looked at several other bikes and you'll not find many that don't have the streaking inside.

Harley needs to correct this issue, we pay too much money for stuff like this to happen and not be properly addressed and fixed by them.

I live in Florida, bike stays in garage unless I'm riding and I do not spray the gauges or infotainment screen when Imwash the bike 3 or 4 times a year.

To be fair, Harley should warranty the replacement parts for a year or two since they probably aren't going to last any longer than the ones that have been replaced. I even wrote to Harley Customer Service and thay wanted my Dealer to send my defective parts back for them to evaluate and possibly they would get with their vendor who makes the speedo to fix the problem but I never heard anything else from HD. I will send a follow up to them again concerning this problem and suggest that all of us having this problem contact them and demand a better replacement part that works as it should.

Same problem with my 2015 Limited and now 2017 CVO Limited. My dealer said Harley is working on a fix for what appears to be adhesive or oil streaks in the gauges. Some gauges are perfect while other have this problem.
