2018 Fatboy 114 Exhaust options
Evening all,
I have ordered a Fatboy 114 and take delivery on 1st March 2018. I will be looking to do a number of mods to the bike including Stage 1. I am currently looking at Vance & Hines Big Radius exhaust system and was wondering if anyone has fitted this yet to their Fatboy. Would really like to hear what it sounds like and also wether you can still have passenger foot pegs fitted. Any help would be appreciated. Cheers John |

here is my fatboy with v&h big shot staggered with quiet baffle..love the look over the radius, mainly because everyone seems to have the radius pipes and the curve doesn't fit with the fatty lines
|
If you can hold out, I should get mine done by the end of Jan. Basically the only hold up is waiting for the pipes. Too add, just talked to V&H, there should be a bracket available to make the passenger pegs work by the end of jan. It should be able to be installed after the pipes, if you get them done first. As of right now, you would have to ditch the 2nd rider. :p

Check out this report before you decide which Stage I Upgrade to go with as all Stage I's are Not the same:

Thanks for your post, The big shot staggered look great on the bike. Think i read your original post and from memory, did you have to modify the exhaust to fit on the fatboy? if so what needed modifying?
|
Thanks Budlight2256 for your post, not sure the Misses would be happy if i have to ditch her :icon_razz: i would love to see and hear your exhaust once you have fitted them to your bike, i can wait for january as my bike is not due until March 2018
|
I'd wait for a complete exhaust system replete with headers and.....
|
I really like the big radius on the fatboy. Waiting on them for my 18 low rider as well. (About a month behind the fatboy ones) think they are awesome looking and sound great. Around here i don't see those on too many bikes. The big shots look good too but I don't want to have to modify anything to bolt up. I don't know why they came up with the short shots first and not the medium length staggered ones (like the ones the guy above modified to fit). You can just do slip ons and gain a ton as well since the cat is in the slip on and not the head pipe.

Went to Bike Week last week and found (what I think is) the only company that makes a "2-in-1" for the 2018 Fatboy. While I was there, I went to all of the major vendors (V&H, Rinehart, etc...) and was told they didn't have anything yet for my bike.
While walking through all of the stalls (Destination Daytona), I found a company called D&D Exhaust. They're out of Ft. Worth, TX. They had a 2018 Fatboy with a chrome "2-in-1" on display. I asked if they had it in black and they did! Bought a set on the spot and they installed it there. I also had them install a Thunder Max tuner on my 2018 Fatboy 114. Here is a pic. Yes...it has a slight up angle on it. It's intentionally designed like that. The sound at idle and WOT is amazing! Tim |

Hey RugbyRef, I believe you about the awesome sound without a clip! I had the D&D Bobcat on my old bike (a 2011 iron 883) and the sound was amazing. Deep low rumble on idle and a satisfying note at high revs without ever being obnoxious. Let me tell you this pipe is really well made and sound will change slightly over time and become a few decibels louder. Enjoy.

I've got Vance and Hines Eliminator 300's in satin chrome on my 115th Anniversary Fat Boy with stage one tuning. They have a deep sound with a nice rumble when I back off the bike. Before the Eliminators, I had the HD Screaming Eagles to eliminate warranty worries. I hated the Harley exhausts and went to Vance and Hines because of my past positive experience with the companies' products. As a bonus, I've put over a thousand miles on the 300's with no discoloration or burned spots on the finish. Moreover, the Eliminator 300's eliminate the catalyst without having to change the stock head pipe.

I have the Bassani Road Rage 2 in 1 on my 2018 Fat Boy 114 which has been injected with the Stage 4. Fantastic ride ! Coming from a BMW K 1300R, the stage 4 gives me the power I need when I want it. Sound is perfect for me.
Enjoy the summer ! |
D&D is hard to beat. Vance and Hines is releasing one at the end of the month. On another build I did a 103 pretty heavily modded, the D&D out performed everything we compared it to. I'm thinking about getting one for the Fatboy but waiting to see the Vance and Hines. Some different brand exhaust aren't making any power at all as the M8s a picky motor when it comes to exhaust.

where did you purchase the satin chrome 300s? I've been waiting for Revzilla to get them but they only have had the black and chrome for about a month. Thanks. |

I don’t think he meant that the 114 puts more HP than the Beemer ( hope not) however, whatever numbers the calculator gave you can’t be accurate as my previous 80 cu in Yamaha Stryker put out 67 HP stock. No way the 114 puts anywhere around or under 68 HP. It definitely hovers near 100hp. I came from a VROD stage 1 and while its more than my 114 FB HP wise I definitely feel the kick and get up from the 114 and don’t miss my VROD one bit. |

But there's a huge discrepancy in the numbers. And, again, the math, according to the HP website, say the 114 is putting out 68 hp stock. |

Not according to the HD website. For the Fatboy 114 the engine torque is 119 ft lb at 3,000 rpm. The equation is HP = Torque x RPM ÷ 5252. That comes out to 67.97 hp. It's math. The fatboy, also according to the HD website, is 700 pounds. The BMW is 536 pounds.

Installed my new Saddlemen Explorer seat yesterday. Won't get a chance to ride until Saturday but just sitting on it I can feel a considerable difference. I'm far enough back now that the foot controls feel right where they should be, and I'm up far enough that putting my feet on the highway bars feels good.
Kind of funny but until recently I thought that Saddlemen was the company that made the Saddleman "Indian" blanket seat covers for trucks back in the 70's and 80's. And so I never considered them for a motorcycle seat. BTW Marco, you're bike looks tough. |

I have the Eliminator 300's in satin chrome as well with stage one tuning and am completely happy with the sound. Everything Mac-427 is spot on. None of the videos / sound clips online do the 300's justice, they are louder than any of the videos I've watched.

Personally I'll be going with this V&H set after the warranty runs down.
