When you are in rural areas, that extra gallon can mean the difference between walking and not.
Yep. I adapted a GasFlask 1.25-gallon gas can for my luggage rack for long trips. It works, but it's a silly workaround for the fundamental shortcoming of the stock gas tank.
"Does the fuel gauge show the correct fuel remaining until empty with the new tank?"
I believe so, the correct fuel pump and sender for the tank is installed
Afraid to ask what it cost to get that new tank all done...
The tank I purchased from the for sale section of this forum for 380, fuel pump and sender 515. Custom paint more than I thought or want to admit too
Part numbers for FL**
61000489 Fuel Tank (Prime) Price unknown, see your dealer
61200042 Fuel pump complete with sender $515.58
10500098 Vent screw (2) 1081A Screws for fuel pump (5) $11.48
Expensive, sure, but it looks fantastic and I know the utility is going to be a very welcome addition. With the little tank I have to stop every 2 gallons or so before getting a little range anxiety, so you've extended your hassle-free range by about 60%, great job.
