Installing Alarm Siren on 2018+ Softail

I recently installed a 12V security siren on my Sport Glide. I used two of the wires from the OEM siren connector. According to the 2018+ Softail wiring diagram, the GRN/WHT wire should be the siren signal. I used this signal as my (+) for the siren, and frame grounded the (-) wire of the siren. The siren doesn't sound when I set off my security system (leave the FOB in the house, then mess around with the bike until the lights flash continually). I have confirmed the siren works by plugging it into my tender socket. Also, I notice the siren makes a very quick and very faint "churp" (almost un-audible) when I plug my main fuse back in. It is a small siren, so I don't think I'm over on load (amps).

Any ideas? Anyone done this similar modification to a new Softail?

Thanks in advance!

On my Street Glide I installed the Harley siren, a lot of folks used a Radio Shack (I think) siren to save some money, somebody over in the touring section can steer you to instructions and a way to wire it in.

I have read a ton of those threads (before and after my installation), but I think there is something different about the body control module on the touring bikes.

This guy had the same exact issue on his Dyna ... https://www.hdforums.com/forum/elect...lp-please.html
You'll notice in his thread the wire colors are the same as ours (and different from the Touring bikes).

I was just hoping someone had performed this same modification on a Softail and could confirm if it worked the same or not.

I don't get it.
The Harley siren is the same for all bikes, so the wires should be the same, I would think.

Yea...looks like the same siren for all rigs. The only think I could think of is maybe its NPN-style triggering...GRN/WHT goes to Siren (-) and the Siren (+) ties to +12V. I'll wait for someone here who has done this mod on a softail to confirm before I change polarity. I tried checking this with my meter, but its hard to trigger the alarm and hold a meter at the same time, LOL.

I installed the following 120dB Mini Siren on both my Tourer and my '19 Fat Boy.
Ebay item number: 122270305338
Works as I expect and is quite loud. Not bad for less than $3.
The only issue is that when the alarm sets and turns off, it reverses the number of beeps (1 vs. 2). But I don't care about that.
I don't remember which wire I put to which wire but I did have to test before soldering to make sure the siren worked as expected.

After reading a few thousand posts, I finally found a reference to the wire colors used on the Softail and Dyna. The siren signal (GRN/WHT) is an NPN signal. Tie the Siren (+) to the RED/ORG, then the Siren (-) to the GRN/WHT.

For other folks reference, if your security siren connector has the RED/ORG, GRN/WHT, BLK wires, use the following schematic...

OK, I ordered the cheap siren, will wire it up soon.
Wonder if I can find a plug to plug into the onboard Harley plug.
