I too would like to get the air cleaner off my knee on my SpG. I'd also like it to be smaller in order to show off more of the engine. Not sure if both can be accomplished while increasing air flow.

It has been warm enough these past two days to get the bike off the tender and down the road. I took a fresh look at the air cleaner / knee clearance. I think the only two options that will work for me would be the slanted style on the touring bikes, or the forward facing ram-intake style ("Heavy Breather" I think they are called?).

Anyone know if the slanted style air cleaner for the touring bikes fits the Softail throttle body? It looks like the same part number if you go to Harley's Part and Accessories and compare "for the bike" catalogs between the two rigs.

I got the complete assembly for less than $50 from eBay.

Perfect. Thanks!

Now, can you install forward controls on your Low Rider and let me know how much knee clearance you have? Awesome, thanks.

That's exactly what I was thinking about before, except for the 114 version. Doing a little more research, Harley uses the exact same air filter for both the 107 and 114 engines on the Street Glide and Street Glide Special, so, no, there's no difference in the OEM air filter setup for the two engines other than the badging.

I was pretty sure this style of air cleaner would fit, and like Mike found out, they're going cheap on Ebay right now. Mike, does it give you any extra room for your knee on the Low Rider?

Other than the look which I like, the extra knee room would be nice.

It's a wedge shape, so the front sticks out a bit more but I did go for a ride and didn't notice it being in the way.
I just installed a oval SE Ventilator AC but not sure I like the looks better than the touring AC. I was looking at the Arlen Ness backing plate and filter for the touring AC which eliminates the bottom black box part and makes it look smaller, a better look on the Softail. I think the touring AC would be a better performance AC for engine upgrades also.
It never ends.

Just ordered one of the touring AC's off eBay. It was a "dealer removal", so no idea how many miles are on the filter. I guess I'll just give it a look-see when it shows up. It was cheap enough, I won't complain if I have to go buy a new filter.

Unfortunately it will not fit your sport glide (ask me how i know..) The rear header pipe gets in the way.

I think it would be OK with an aftermarket filter that eliminated the big black box.

Correct, the stage1 for touring that uses the stock cover will work but it's an extra $200
