newer Heritage Softail questions
I've been away from the forum for a while and have made some changes. The 11 FLHTK was traded for a 15 FLHTKL and now sold. I do still have the13 FLSTF. Back surgeries and other limitations prompted the sale of the touring bike. I am considering trading/selling the 13 Fatboy and getting a newer Heritage 18 or later but am wondering what the real changes are. I looked briefly at a used 18 Heritage with the 114 and it also had some performance modifications. I asked some questions about the catalytic converter etc and didn't get satisfactory answers. Not sure if he didn't know, I didn't ask correctly, or what. Other questions deal with frame changes.
On the 13 Fatboy I added the lowering kit, engine guard with pegs, light bar with aux LEDs, quick release windshield (custom cut-down), VH slash cut mufflers, open intake, Power Commander tuner, 4 point rear fender quick release mounts with over fender luggage rack, short sissy bar and rack behind it, Mustang sport touring 2 piece seat and Mustang driver's back rest. There are a few other small things changed such as LED turn signals and stuff I can't remember right now.
Big things would be how much of my frame mounted pieces would be useful and I should keep. If I were to trade, all those parts would be essentially given to the dealer and some things are important for me to be able to ride in comfort. Backrest, pegs, etc., allow me to change positions with the back and knee issues. Passenger back rest important for rider comfort and safety.
Engine; The 13 Fatboy has the 103 which moves it quite nicely and I'm wondering if the 114 is really a necessity or desirable over the "smaller" 107? On the newer engines where is the cat? On the 13 they were in the mufflers but I seemed to understand that currently it's in the head pipe. With the oil cooled heads how is the heat on the newer engine? My 15 FLHTKL was OK but I also had Fuel Moto ceramic head pipes and PV5 programming.
I'm on a motorhome trip and will return early June and will look more closely at that time but I'd like to be armed with relevant information when I go in. Thanks

Most if not all the parts from your 13 fatboy will not fit on a 18 heritage. 18 is a new frame w/monoshock. 18 Heritage, the cats are in the muffler. Only the fatbob has the cats in the header. Most who have the 107 say it great compared to the twin cam. But then those who then test ride the 114 will go to the 114. Heat issues much better than the twin cam.

I have always gone beyond stage 1on previous H-Ds I've owned. My 2018 Heritage is a 107 - stock it was not ragged edge lean with accompany engine heat. I was comfortable with performance, but recently went to stage 1 only because I liked the looks and sound of the V&H 2 Ito I system. I have no need for the stage 2 cam or byond, Happy camper
