I picked it up a few weeks back and made some ergonomic changes so it'd better suit me. The next steps are going to be figuring out the best way to up this things power and increase the ride height and suspension. I can't leave well enough alone so I'm not sure if I should just go for broke and do a full big bore kit or if I should just stick with some fancy cams.

I know everyone wants torque so they can pass that semi without shifting- but I'm coming from the sport bike world- my other bike is a Aprilia RSV4-RR that's pushing 200hp at the wheels. I'm used to ringing an engine out and shifting it high in the rev range. This bike with its measly 80hp already feels like it's got all the torque down low! It's just slow once its actually moving!

My question is- what is the best cam for maximizing the horsepower? I'm already in line for a RB Racing LSR ProStock Challenge exhaust- mostly because I met those folks years ago and really liked them and their website is freaking insane and what they're saying seems to make sense.

For cams and tuners I'm not brand loyal to anyone- and if it really makes sense to do a big bore kit along with cams I'm probably game.

I also want to know who makes the stiffest best handling rear suspension shock for my bike? And will replacing the guts in the front fork with Ohlins cartridges be good enough to match that?

I ride my bike commuting about 100 miles a day on the highway and also enjoy taking the bike into the canyons. Of course, I still have my Aprilia- but this thing is alot more comfy and fun in town and on the highway- I just don't want it to suck on twisty roads or be a total pig that dies at high rpm.

I could see myself getting a custom aluminum swing arm down the road- fancy carbon wheels and all sorts of other stupid things to make the bike moderately better at absurd cost- because that's what I do with everything. But I'm really trying to be good- if I can save money by just doing an exhaust, an intake, and a cam and self-tune I'm down.

Tell me what to do!

Oh- here's the bike. That's a custom Whiplash Seat, some dumb Sand Diego Customs mini floorboards that actually kind of suck, and a Nashville screen.

Talk to RB racing about what cam suits that pipe and whatever else you want to do, I usually get the pipe to suit the cam and head mods though maybe I'm just old and unstable.
More cubes has been the proven way to go with these motors too man.Go big for grunt. Maybe they will tell you to put a whistle(blower/turbo) on it.150 square at 124/128 cubes is about right with a smart well thought out normally aspirated set up now and TTS is getting over 200whp with a blower at 114 cubes I think.

Congrats. Going big on a “small” Harley makes for a fun rocket to ride. If you aren’t concerned about warranty the cam/big bore/tuner world has no shortage of options. The HD stage 4 set up gets you around 130/130 tq/hp with a good 2-1 exhaust and keeps the warranty. Otherwise, as mentioned, some shops are pushing to 200 with no expense spared. A lot more than cam and bore going on there...You’d want crank work, clutch, etc. for the whole system to handle that power. With the SB weight and geometry you also will never be able to throw it around like a sport bike. It’s all a matter of what you need/want and the money to throw at it. Harleys have always been more about feel than numbers to me, but everyone has their needs. For the upgrade money, you might consider keeping a high HP stablemate and have the option to swap back and forth.

Then again, going to the limit has never been in short supply on HD builds. Keep us posted!
