Default New Slim is a GREAT motorcycle!

No, I didn't buy one...yet.

Was out visiting bike shops the other day and swung in San Jose HD to check out this years models. I've been doing a lot of other stuff lately, backcountry flying, jet boating, etc and hadn't even got to check out the new Softail chassis and M8. I've always liked the look of the Softail Slim but I never seemed to "fit" right on the pre '18 chassis. Met up with a salesman there, Little John (who is of course 6' 4" or so) who showed me around the bikes and the changes. Once I sat on the new Slim I knew this was probably cost me some $$$ soon.

I'm so busy right now with work and moving my base of operations 3000 miles I've got no time to buy a new bike let alone get any riding in, but John did talk me into going for a test ride.

Hell yeah.

I was absolutely amazed at how nice this bike rides and handles. Harley nailed it on the changes IMO. And compared to my 96" FLHS the new 107 is a beast. A lot lighter bike I know, but man this sucker is strong. We got a little rip up the freeway in, and then some surface street riding in as well. I love this bike. I'm 6'3" and 245 lbs. and for my build it fit nicely. Throw a Mustang solo, and some bags on it and I could be gone for days.

Good job HD.

I love my 2018 Slim. After riding it for a bit now I’m thinking about adding saddlebags (for more utility) and a Mustang solo seat with a removable backrest (for longer rides).

Love my 2018 Slim. It has plenty of power for me. I would like to replace the seat for longer rides.

If I could deal without windshield and saddlebags I would have gone with the Slim.

Im not nearly as pleased with the stretched out riding position. The seat on the new Softails seems to have been moved back about two inches, but my arms and legs are the same length the were. My ‘94 Heritage fit me perfectly. The new Heritage, not so much.

Nice. The Slim is a beautiful bike. Very happy on my Heritage which is currently stripped down, but dealer has a Slim in Billiard Blue and one in Salt White Denim...both catch my eye every time I swing by.

I got the detachable windshield for my Slim. I use it for the highway and long rides.

Its funny.... When I bought my 18 softail this was the one I liked the least. Not saying its a bad bike, just didnt suit me. Different seats for different butts..

My Son bought an Leftover new 18 early this year. He put short shots on with wrap and cool sissy bar. I got to ride it when I went to Austin to visit. Nice handling and really smooth. Pipes aren't too loud either.
