Brandon's 2024 FLHX

Hey, guys. I'm creating this thread to keep a journal of everything and anything having to do with my 2024 Street Glide. I bought the White Onyx Pearl Street Glide today with 7 miles on it.

If you followed my previous thread (Brandon's 2017 FLHX), you know what to expect!

I have a few thousand dollars to spend on upgrades, thanks to my insurance payout. I'm looking for input on how to spend it. Part of insurance's conditions for paying out accessory replacement is that I have 6 months to spend it on accessories for the bike.

First, I will be keeping the warranty intact, so no header or tuner that's going to void the warranty.
Second, I've got some hefty HD gift card funds to spend, and there are very few aftermarket parts available, so I'm buying the majority of things from the dealership.

Here are some things I'm kicking around. I'm open to input.

Stage 1: $1741
  • SE tuner $450
    • Necessary evil, I know
  • SE Wedge AC $525
    • I like the look, and I like that it fits tight against the bike
  • V&H Torquer 450s $766
    • I heard these today and damn, they sound phenomenal.
    • I'm not worried about any loss of low end; this Gen 2 117 has got the powaaa... plus....
Stage 2: $712 parts, $1020 labor, $1732 total
  • SE Stage 2 kit 92500133 (SE8-511 cam, SE adjustable pushrods, high capacity lifters): $680
    • Same cam in the 121 HO
  • 117 Stage 2 timing cover medallion, just because: $32
  • 6 hours labor @ $120/hr: $720
  • Dyno: $300
Comfort: $938
  • Sundowner seat $394
    • I have heard mixed reviews. The wife will not ride without a different seat, back trouble.
  • 10" Windsplitter (clear) w/ mounting hardware $265
    • I can barely hear myself think while riding the 24 SG because the wind is straight into my helmet.
  • HD Tallboy bars $178
    • I have heard good things about these. They seem very similar to my old Wild1 579s, although these are only 1" diameter...
  • Tapered Short Stem Mirrors $90
  • Fairing Plug Kit $11
Stage 2 audio: $1030
  • Stage 2 RF 500W amp $600
  • Stage 2 RF Speakers $430
  • Yes, I know... It probably SUCKS. And I would prefer to spend the same on the VolunteerAudio Hertz system, but I gots the gift cards!
    • This is the only 'upgrade' I'm unsure of.
Grand Total of all the above is $5441 pre-tax... I might need to pull this back some.

I say yes to all of the above!

I would go with the Pro Action front and rear suspension set up, that would possibly be more beneficial than the motor work as the 117 is a very nice upgrade from the 103 you were running.

Congrats on the new ride.

I always spend the first several grand just getting them to fit me, which usually involves trial and error (mostly error) with handlebars, seats, and windshields.

Personally I would pass on the HD audio "upgrade" and go with aftermarket for sure. Perhaps the gift cards could go towards rear shocks? Either way, I look forward to seeing how this bike evolves!

Congratulations!

From the looks of the AC in the pic, does it already have stage 1?

Ooh yeah, that sounds good too. I had Legend Revo-A in rear and Pro-Action up front previously, and it was a good ride for sure.

I don’t have enough time in the saddle to say right now, but the stock suspension felt pretty damn good for the miles I did ride. I’ll need to get the wife on the back and really put the miles on to know for sure.

Oops, you’re right. I didn’t even notice the air cleaner in that pic. That’s just the stock photo from the website. The bike has zero P&A on it right now.
