Not happy with Progressive 422, is a Shotgun Shock system the answer?
My bike currently has a set of Progressive 422 shocks and I'm not happy with the ride. I'm the second owner of my bike so I'm not sure how old the progressives are (the bike is a 2006 with 18,000 miles), but the ride sucks. I've got the bike at full ride height and I still cringe when I can't avoid a bump or pot hole.
I like the easy adjustment of the Shotgun system, but is the ride really that much better then the Progressive? Will the Shotgun absorb the bumps better then the Progressive? Thanks Erik |
When you say full ride height do you mean you have the shocks adjusted to maximum stiffness?

Fwiw I'm 6' and around 230 lbs so not super heavy but not a twig either |
I thought you might think the stiffness adjustment was a height adjustment. But it seems you have more advanced shocks than I.
Just yesterday I swapped out a set of progressives one inch lower than stock for a set of one inch taller than stock harley shocks off a 1200r. They are awesome, and they only cost twenty bucks. Best of luck. |

That's the reason I had to upgrade the front, because after the Shotgun it really amplified just how bad the stock front springs were. |
I've got 422's on my 03 Fatty. I have to agree with you. The ride sucks. The 422's are over rated. Seriously thinking about shotguns but debating on them due to the cost.
