Default 15 rg pioneer double din swap

I wasn't happy with the 4.3 factory junk so I decided to put this stereo in took a lot of work but it's installed and looks sweet. All I need is the harness kit (hopefully soon from biketronics) and it's done

glad to see someone pioneering the trail on the rushmores! Love to see the bracket you made, how it's being secured, I'm assuming the backer plate covering gap is abs?

+1

can you share how you made the bracket, etc. Pretty sure guys here with the 2015 RG would love to know how you made this look so awesome.
Pictures from the inside would be great too.
Awesome job...

ok fess up...how much trouble did you have with new fairing design...J&M tech at LasVegasBikefest this year says its a totally different animal and a lot more work...i know from experience on my 09 FLHX those stock speakers are gonna take a beating after time.

no way you'll get a DD in a batwing but the roadie looks like it has some room (hence the comment someone made about J&M removing the radio to install amp underneath it then putting radio back in)

derk8088. Who fabricated the faceplate that goes around the radio to fit that opening the way it does if you don't mind sharing please

Ok what I did was take out the factory radio laid it face down on a piece of 1/8" aluminum and traced the outside of the faceplate. I then took that outline and cut it out so it would sit against the fairing the same way the factory radio faceplate does. I then measured the face of the aftermarket radio and laid it out and centered it and cut it out. Cleaned up my cuts really good and painted it with flat black paint like 4 coats...as for the inside of the fairing if u take out your factory radio u will see a big gaudy looking bracket that the stereo bolts down to. We'll I measured the aftermarket stereo and transferred it to the bracket to see how much of the bracket I had to cut out...the bracket is huge pretty much everything in side the fairing and the inner fairing all bolt to this bracket. The way I cut it out didn't affect the strength of the bracket at all. I then installed the radio to see where I needed to put my brackets to bolt the new radio in. I got lucky and the same bolt holes for the factory radio lined up perfectly with the holes on the radio, so I just made 3 little L brackets bolted the two sides and 1 in the rear and that's about it if u have questions don't hesitate to ask

looks great man..

if you've got some pics of the inside of the fairing while you had it apart that would be awesome for you to post up.
