Default Do I have speakers or connection problem?

I bought my 2002 Road Glide about couple months ago. It has stock radio cassette and aftermarket speakers. At low speed, the speakers produced clear sound. But as soon as I hit 35-37 mph and above, it started to have some popping noises (almost like fire crackers) and then I can barely hear anything out of my speakers. Any idea why?

Yes. The faster you go the more the circuit board in your HU vibrates. Your HU has went to hell in a handbasket. Time to get it fixed or upgrade. That's worst case scenario. The first thing I would do is pull the fairing and check all my connections.

While the fairing is off. Turn on the stereo to good volume, then wiggle the connections...and then pound on the head unit with the handle of a screw driver. Yep...if something is loose...you can find out that way. I worked in a stereo shop while in college. The majority of car radio problems we found that way. If it is the head unit, then decide if you want to replace it, or have it repaired by Iron Cross.

FWIW...speakers may pop with volume increases...but not likely with speed.

2002, thats the old Radio sound in a groovy cassette player...wow. I would replace that quick, do a search mode on audio upgrade, plenty of options for any budget. Good luck and congrats on your new ride.

Thank you everyone for your replies. I think I'm gonna just replace the radio with a new head unit. I really appreciate each one of you for taking your time and answer my question!
