Default 2016 Speaker Pods - Port or Not?

Getting ready to put in my KRC Focals. Im going to try them in the pods. I already have my dynamat (different manufacturer ) to put in the pods and back of fairing.

I was thinking about putting a 3 inch port hole in the rear of the pods. Just wanted to ask the audio guru's opinion here. Port or not? If so any particular location in the pods?

Thx
Murph

No need to port. Those Focals hit hard back there!

I'm not familiar with those speakers but I am running Hertz HCX 165's and I drilled six 1/2" holes in each pod with fiber fill and it worked great. I get pretty good bass considering they are only 6.5 inch. One three inch hole sounds a bit excessive to me.

Just get a reasonably sized metal/steel drill bit, 3/8" or 1/2", and drill about 4 of 5 holes in each pod.

Eventually u will want the BT speaker / fairing bracket and wall paper the outer fairing with Dynamat or Second Skin.

Thanks for the input.

I have a 2016 SGS.

I will only have the Focals in the fairing at this point. I might get lids at a later date.

My mistake Murph. I thought you were talking about the rear pods on an Ultra. You want the Biketronics brackets in the fairing. Do it once do it right.
