I just installed the KMR-D765BT and it seems like a solid piece exception can't see anything on the display until after sunset (due to glare)! I've tried many different color settings. Hazards of living in the desert!

Does anyone have a suggestion how to fix this?

Wanted to hear this, have the same issue with my old Alpine HU.....Still running strong,but wanting a newer KW765 in the future....
So other than that, no other issues?

 

I have the KW 558BT and won't stay connected with the usb. So I use BT, wish the usb worked as it keeps the phone charged.

 

The Kenwood x998 has more display setting but I also have a problem viewing the display when the sun is reflecting off of the chrome tank console just in front of the HU. If I hold my hand over the console the display is more visible. In direct sunlight I can view it fine. AAWAV suggested applying some Matte Flat Black Vinyl Car Wrap over the front of the console. I picked up vinyl wrap on ebay to try out.

 

On my 12RG the tilt of the radio makes it even worse. Can't see anything on it in daylight. I modified the mount too tilt it down some. Helps a little. On my old bike I had a Kenwood (don't remember the model) and I stuck anti-glare screen protector for a phone over the display area. It helped out a good bit. Not perfect, but much better. I think I bought a 5 pack on Amazon cheap. Cut them to size and stick on. Haven't tried it on this one yet.

The 765 has a 16 BIT DAC not a 24 like the 998
That rules it out for me

I wouldn't run it over a 998.

 

I recall it was "me" starting with the 998 LOL.

there seem to be multiple "current" threads about visibility.
As Bert suggested - stick some matte black vinyl on the front of the console to reduce glare. I tried the anti glare screen protector on my prev. deck (Pioneer DEH9500h) but I think I lost it along the way (did not "tape" it down).
Still too hot to ride in Vegas, but will dig up a piece of anti glare and check soon.
setting 998 in reverse color will help for sure.

and... good to know about the 24 DAC....
