Default 2008 FLHT came without a radio but has controls for it?

So. i got my neighbor to buy a 2008 FLHT. It never had a radio from new but it does have the hand controls for it. Can a stock radio be easily installed and be "plug and play" with the controls? What year radios would work?

Your neighbor should have an Electra Glide Standard. IIRC it came wired for a radio with the hand controls already in place. I believe it also had an antenna wire on the bike. From looking at the parts finders, the radio # 76160-06 was used in the Electra Glide Classic from 2006 - 2013. That should work and be plug & play.

Take a look at this for the radio kit

Or check out the Biketronics retroradio page. Can get a whole set up for under $600 with radio and everything else needed.

Actually an aftermarket radio and 6.5" speakers are a better sound and a better place to start for money spent. Add the BT install components much happier!

I have an 08 FLHT and have run several radios, your best bet is to go with one of the aftermarket radios that will plug into the factory system, I am running a medallion system only one at the time that was plug and play, look at Jenson or aquatic both are for exact fit and plug into existing controls, all wiring is there, then pick your speakers, using 7.5 inch Jm will fit front faring. I tried biktronics adapter and several car radios worked for awhile but then had problems. The radios that I mentioned are water proof have aux inputs, sub inputs and I know one has Bluetooth. I have been running mine for about 3 years without any problems.
