Default PBR300X2 and Infinity Kappa 62.11i advice

Sorry if this has been asked 100x before as I know this seems to be a VERY popular combo. I have a 2011 road glide ultra. Currently this bike has the higher level aquatic av head unit (color screen).. I do have a tourpak that won't spend much time on the bike so upgrading those speakers isn't really a big deal to me..

Now to the goods.. I just purchased the Kappas and am leaning towards getting the PBR300X2 to power them.. first question, my research has lead me to believe this amp is my best option, in its price range that WONT effect my FM signal. Is this correct? *I know BT is the best out there but not in the budget*

As far as the wiring of the speakers to amp is concerned there is a list of diagrams on the rf website. when looking at the amp, scroll down to "wiring wizards" do any of those apply to me? I do believe that diagram number 4 is what I'm supposed to.. ill try and post a pic of the diagrams to save the click, but just in case..

lastly, for you guys who have this same hu, amp and speaker combo. whats the best settings you've found?

Thank you everyone in advance, this should be a sticky.. Happy Holidays!

If your hooking 2 speakers to a pbr300x2 then each speaker will have its own positive and negative lead to the amp.
I have a used pbr I would sell, pm me if interested.

Correct. The PBR300X2 is probably the cheapest amp out there that won't affect your FM signal. The amp is very basic. Input via HL or RCA. Output to speakers R/L. Set the gains at 5.5. (HL) is high level input from your existing speaker wires. RCA's are used with an aftermarket HU or line levelers with the stocker. Any gain setting higher than 5.5 will cause distortion with that amp. I've had at least 20 of those amps in my hand. So I know it very well!

It's a good start to your audio adventure but you won't be completely satisfied with the sound. I would save up a little and go with a better amp and speakers.

like inthewind and gannn mentioned the PBR300X2 will work,Its 2 ohm stable for the Kappas @160 watts
It might tide you over for a summer, then when budget allows plan on some nice components or better coaxial's and a little bigger power amp
haze now known as baggeraudiolab can hook you up.
and if you havent bought anything check with haze, you might be surprised what he can do for you.

Little more info on that amp please? Cannot locate that P/N#. All I found was the MHX model.

Yes, I believe they are referring to the MHX 280/4. It's highly under rated and bridged it put out 185w. Available at Crutchfield.

The new JL designation is MX280/4; however, Bertk is right Crutchfield is selling the discontinued "marine" version MHX280/4 cheaper than you can buy the "new" amp. JL combined the Marine and Mobile lines into a single amp but still the same.
