Default Looking for a simple system for my bike. Any suggestions?

I have a 92 FLHS that I want to add tunes to. I'm looking to keep it simple, just some mirror mounted speakers and a setup I can play my iPod through. I'm not a audio guru so I don't need a super setup. I do 99% of my riding on country roads and back streets under 60mph. I did some searching on the inter webs but all the choices are kind of overwhelming. I'll be the first to admit I'm audio illiterate and don't know where to start. I looked a the Boss audio kits and think they might fit the bill but I'm really not sure. Can anyone give a good starting point? Thanks, Todd

Okay Todd. If you are only riding on country roads under 60. your best bang for the buck is going to be speakers in the lids.

Something like these:

Get these 6x9's:

Get this amp and mount it in the saddle bags and bridge it to the Pioneers.

Use this Aux cord with your Iphone to hook it all up. PM me if you need help hooking it all up.

Thanks for the info. I did think of going with speakers in the bags. Harley changed its bag design in 93. Mine is a 92. I've never seen speaker lids for a pre-93 bagger. Todd

Damn. I missed that. One year off. You could always upgrade your saddle bags. There's some speakers that fit on the roll bars for your bike. but I've always thought they looked tacky and took away from the lines of the bike.

Have not looked at the difference in design between the 92 and the 93. But it couldn't be that much difference in the lids? I see guys modifying those older bikes all the time. Have to get creative bro!! Maybe someone will jump in that has upgraded.

Back then we were not installing sound systems on bikes. Nothing but the wind and the pipes!!

If you been at all thinking about swapping to a fairing...I know it's a step, but there are fairings that'll hold 4 6x9's and a headunit and amp.

or you can go more basic and put in a $200~250 system like a kenwood kdc headunit ( ipod in) and a couple of the 6.5" infinity kappas)

something along those lines.

my pal did something similar with his '85 FLH and loves his tunes...I think he came in about $600 all in with paint

I did recommend you few models if you are looking for a simple system.

BOSS AUDIO MRWT40 Marine Waketower
These speakers are Waterproof and have the good wattage to play music loudly.

PYLE PLMCA20 Mount Amplifier
The wattage is low as compared to Boss speakers but the price is very cheap too.

More options: http://www.topreviewhut.com/best-mot...akers-reviews/

Most of the speakers are compatible with iPod but make sure to read the full specifications before making the final decision.
