Area 51 6.5 being road tested this week
#12
I think the Area 51 status has a few different meanings but the most important designation for the product application is intended to test the product via solid R&D prior to talking up the potential. Specs are a somewhat good tool to define a sandbox to play in but u just never know until the shix is on the sled AND rolling down the road. No sense in having guy's chasing the same unicorn until some product testing has been accomplished thus the initial secrecy.
This!!! That's the hard part man. So much good stuff out there, but you never know until you use it.

Since I would think you will now carry Alpine, I need a type R component set and some type R 8's with Alpine Type R horns. So much trial and error to this and even then some speakers that work great for some installs don't work so well for others and never get brought up.

Thanks Gann. I just have to find amps big enough to push them. Maybe a DD SS4B will do it. Or I could do the trailer idea. After seeing this trike that got built, has me thinking JOE needs to step his game up and will need them more than me!!!

Speakers are in and with the bike sitting still, they sounds pretty impressive. I need to get some seat time with these guys to see how they run with a myriad of music played on them. At first listen, they seem to have a really solid bottom end, the biggest question is what happens to them between 4000 and 10K Hz. The DDs were full and flawless at that range. To be continued. The magnet on these is SLIGHTLY larger than the AW. It doesn't interfere with the amp mounted on the clutch side of the BT bracket but it's very close. There's a rubber surround on them that could easily be removed and I could probably gain another 1/4" if needed.
