Default Hidden antenna in conjunction with whip

I have the J&M hidden antennas (am/fm and cb) on my '14 Limited. I'm not real happy with the performance, especially the CB. I'm thinking about putting the whips back on the tour pack. I know with the hidden cb antenna you can hook up the whip also and it is supposed to improve the performance. Has anybody modified the cable for the am/fm to run both the whip and hidden and has it helped the performance? If so, how did you modify it?

I've read that post but that still doesn't answer my question about the am/fm whip and combining it with j&m hidden antenna

I would recommend against it.
AM/FM antenna is 75 ohms.
CB is 50 ohms.
If you dump 3+ watts of signal (from CB on transmit) into a direct wired input into the front end of that AM/FM radio w/o a proper isolation network, you can fry the AM/FM receiver.
But, again, it's your radio & your bike.

The easiest way is to order the dual FAKRA connector mentioned in that thread so you can hook them both up. Most of the comments mentioned better performance than just the hidden antenna but not necessarily better than the whip by itself.

You're misunderstanding. I'm not saying connect the cb to the am/fm. The two are totally separate. I have a hidden cb antenna and a separate hidden am/fm antenna. The cb module is a separate module from the am/fm. I'm a ham operator for 30 yrs and I know the difference.

You are correct; I misunderstood you question. I thought you were using a single hidden antenna that included CB band & wanted to parallel that with a standard mast antenna. Not familiar with all of J&M's product line, but I thought I remembered them having a hidden antenna that serviced (connected to) both radios. Even so, I would be very skeptical that you would get a good SWR playing mix'n'match.
