Boom Audio Issues at Speed
My issue, which started at about 11,000 miles, is the stereo sounds great sitting in my garage without the engine running. But once the engine is started, the audio would start to intermittently cut out. This would occur with all of the inputs (FM, Sirius XM, iPod connected to USB). I typically would have AVC = 4 and volume about midrange. When the audio started to cut out, if I increased the volume, it would improve slightly so the music came back, but you could still hear distortion and intermittent audio. But to get it to work, I was increasing volume to only a notch or two below max, which I never had to do. And then it was louder than I needed/wanted it, but it would do for highway touring, which is the majority of my riding.
I took the bike to the local dealer, but of course it didn't do anything while idling in their parking lot. I suggested they take it for a ride, which they did after I left, but they could not recreate the symptoms. They did update the amp software, and when I got the bike back, the problem seemed to have disappeared at low speeds, but is still present at high (highway) speeds. I'm thinking the problem is in the AVC circuit since issue occurs primarily when bike is running when background noise is higher.
I looked at the schematics for my bike in the CVO manual but do not see when there is an input for background noise to the AVC circuit. Does anyone know how that circuit works and if it could be the source of my problems? I'm not getting a Check Engine Light so I assume there are no trouble codes. Anyway, I rely on the audio A LOT and just want it back the way it was. I'm taking the bike back in later this week, but I don't have much hope the dealer will admit there's a problem. System is still under warranty.
Any thoughts or recommendations much appreciated!
