Help with DMM gain setting

Ok, never did this before and having a tough time, but looking for guidance. Aquatics HU, JL 280/4 bridged in stereo, DDAW's. Trying to set gains with DMM.
  • Amp out FR- taped to black lead on DMM
  • Amp out FL+ taped to red lead on DMM
  • DMM set to ACV
  • Volume on HU set to 30/40
  • 1000 hz test tone downloaded from sticky at top of forum
  • Power on, test tone playing: max voltage showing is 15.4 volts. I believe bridged should be 23.7v per the installation guide.
Any ideas wtf I am doing wrong? It's driving me nuts. There is no way that it should be .5x23.7=11.8v per side is there?

Thanks in advance.

Typically in low but depends on your wiring setup. Turn gains all the way down and see what impact it has in high v low.

Also make sure ur DMM is reading VAC.

Are u wired 4 channel bridged? Switch at 4 channel input?
Gator clips on correct wires?

No difference with bike running or not running. I have no idea what's up.
