Lightbulb Subs vs woofers for saddlebags?

I'm thinking of adding 8 inch speakers in my bags, what's the best way to go subs or woofers...and why! What is the advantages of using subs compared to using woofers, and what make of speakers are guys using to get the best results! Thinking if I do subs I could build sealed enclosure in bags to separate the subs from the 6x9's in my lids, or is that necessary! Also cut the hole or use drilled grid method! Any thoughts from the bass heads!

You taking up new music genres? Are you giving up Zeppelin, VanHalen and Journey for a lil Beastie Boys?

Are you willing to have enclosures built to a specific volume required for the sub to work properly?

Mike I’m not there are many folks on this forum who have gone thru the work of correctly installing subs in a bike. Short answer:

Subs - lots of, lots of reward
midbass - not as much work, not as much bass.

Yeah Matt, built a few sealed bass enclosures through the years, always to manufacturer specs... going to be a little harder in the back corner of the bag...thinking 1/2 MDF! I talked to DD about their 500 Series subs 506D requires .25 min. 508C requires .35 min. running off the back 2 channels of the SS TN 900. Just starting to research this!

Yeah Alex, that's what I was thinking, I know some of the comp bikes fiberglass there bags...I would probably use 1/2 MDF contoured to the bag (or close). Have you done anything like that?

I know some guys seal in midbass drivers as well. If for some reason you dont want the subs. Prob would be easier on a stock battery as well.

Mike,
Look at some of the HDPE material also. May or may not be easier to work with.

You can get get all the bass you need from a midbass 10 if it’s the right speaker! Subs = Too much work! Lol!
