Default Faring/Lowers

So, I recently installed a JL M400/4 bridged to two HCX 165s. I knew this would be temporary until next year when I could add components and lowers. That said, I've got time on my hands and figured I'd use this time to do some research on what best route to take during the winter/early spring. Would I be best going for woofers in all 4 pods, and tweeters on the fairing? I'll probably add the HCX to the tourpak, and possibly add a cheap 2 channel amp for them. I might sound stupid asking these questions, but I really appreciate any help or advice. Thanks so much in advance!

If your plan is to put a component set in your fairing, then I would use a PA type speaker like MMats or PRV neo or the one I am using in my lowers the DD VO 6.5...surprised nobody commented... this should bump you up and get some other opinions! You will need another amp either to add to what you have or replace the JL with a 4 or 6 channel that will run your front stage or add a micro amp! If you want loud run 4 PA speakers and some horns on your front stage!

Thanks a ton for the response! That sounds like the route I'll go for sure, then. I've seen people recommending DD fairly frequently. A lot of their models, including the ones you've mentioned, have a RMS of around 75 watts at 4 ohms. Would the JL amp be able to support four of those? I realize this wouldn't give them much head room, I'm just hoping I don't have to find space for another amp. Again, I really appreciate the advice.

I am running the BT 4250 on my DD VO's at around 250-280 rms so not sure how they will sound with the JL's 75 rms. I have heard a number of the PRV 6MR 500 NDY run off the JL 600/6 at 75 rms and they sound great! You would then need a micro amp like the GZ micro amp (in a recent thread) to run your horns, so you can tune them separately or depending on your budget get the JL 600/6 for the front stage and use the JL 400 on your rear stage.

Again, I really appreciate the help, man! That gives me a great foundation to build on. I'll start looking into those options and see what I can come up with this winter. One last few questions, would getting the 600/6 allow me to skip the micro amp? Would I still use a crossover for the tweeters? Annnnd if I push 75 watts to a speaker that requires a higher RMS, would I risk any damage? And would it square the sine wave? I'm sure these are easy questions, and I've perused the forums, but I'm apparently too thick to figure it out. Thanks!
