Default 8s in lowers.

Pros and cons of 8s in lower fairings? I just watched a video and the guy was running 8s in his lowers. Obviously not going to get much out of a video so wanted to get some opinions on this set up. 4 speaker set up 6.5s in fairing and 6.5s in lowers (currently running this) compared to 6.5 fairing and 8s lowers.

Thanks

A good 8" lower set-up is simply amazing, i had to bridge my 6.5' PRV in my fairing to 150w to keep up

Agree with Yoop here. With the right power and speaker combo, 8” lowers are hard to beat. Much fuller sound to the point that you could literally mute your fairing and not tell a lot of difference. I’m running crescendo UN8’s in the lowers and I am extremely pleased with them over my 6.5 lowers I had previously.

I currently have the DD AW/AT setup in my fairing and Beymas in my lowers. Pushed by an Moto 600.4 So Im guessing I would have to run the 8s on a separate amp. Would you suggest staying with a PA 8 or with an 8 that produces a fuller sound like the AWs do? What lower did you go with to get the 8s in?

I have the dirty bird lowers and crescendo UN8's. They're a very solid sound and not terribly expensive. They are efficient enough that I think the 150 watts would run them nicely and they wouldn't be too overpowering for your AW's.

Are you running a dsp? If so, the SD800.4 eco would be an awesome amp for that setup. If you get the 2 ohm version; you can parallel your 4 ohm AW's and bridge to 1/2 and parallel 4 ohm lower 8's and bridge to 3/4 and give them all 200 watts of super clean power. But only if on dsp. The SD amp had a fixed 80 hz crossover so it's not ideal for use without processors IMO

No DSP, I have an 11 ultra with a Sony MEX70 HU. Would a DSP help?

Yes a DSP helps a lot. I'm running same HU. I found it night and day difference with DSP added.
