The hertz mlk 1650's (if that is what you are referring to) have some of the best SQ I have ever heard and I have tried a few different speakers. As far as worth the upgrade, that is totally personal preference. I will tell you they are not as loud as the common PA style speaker.
says herts ML 1650.3 if that is what you mean.

Yes sir. Had them in my fairing and as I said the SQ is superb but they got drowned out by the pa in the rest of my setup. I'm probably going to sell them. For a fairing only or fairing/lower or lid setup just a good sounding speaker combo.

All I have are the woofers and running horns. No crossover just a capacitor with the horns. Sold the crossovers and tweeters as the horns are so much better. I tried both running horns parallel with the woofs and on separate channels.

For a 2 speaker system they are worth the money, but I'm biased because I run them up front in both bikes. The 16 is fairing only, the 18 is fairing and lids. The ML 1650 kit from biketronics is the ML 1650.3 woofer with their own 1" tweeter built into the grill with a pre-wired capacitor already wired so no crossover is needed. The MLK is the 1650.3 woofer with a hertz mp 25.3 tweeter and a hertz crossover. I have the MLK kit with a different crossover (the hertz crossover is freaking huge) in the 16 and the BT kit in the 18, can't tell the difference between tweeters at speed and both work well. If I wanted that speaker for a 2 speaker system I'd buy it from biketronics with their tweeter (easiest install) since you'll need the line leveler from them anyways and they should have a black friday sale coming up. I'd pair it with the diamond audio micro 4V2 or their new micro 84U (basically same amp with coated board) and run it bridged - good sound quality, plenty of power to push the hertz and some to spare (they need between 175-200W to be really happy), fits in the RG fairing like it was made to be there, and cheaper than the BT amp in their package.
They are pricey, but for a 2 speaker setup they are loud, clear, have excellent mid-bass, and overall great sound.
